Oggi, a due settimane dalla chiusura definitiva del servizio, Google da una lezione meravigliosa: "The playground is now open", ovvero il parco giochi è aperto. Cosa significa? Che Google ha creato uno strumento per coprire un'esigenza e ora, uscendo da quel mercato, lascia spazio a tutte le possibili esistenti e future alternative. Google non offrirà più il servizio, ma ha creato di fatto uno standard qualitativo, una baseline di valutazione, e ha creato una cultura che consente di capire quali sono le funzionalità che gli utenti vogliono poter utilizzare. Google Reader is closing, we all know that. And everybody is looking for an alternative. Today, two weeks before the shutdown of the service, Google gives us a wonderful lesson: "The playground is now open". What does it mean? It means Google has created a tool to cover a need and now, getting out of that market, it gives space to all the possible existing and future alternatives. Google will no longer offer the service, but through its tool it created a qualitative baseline and a culture that enables people and companies to understand what they need.
